The Mooney Law Firm, P.A.  is one of Northeast Arkansas' oldest law firms representing clients in Arkansas for over 50 years!

Charles M. Mooney, Sr.

Charles “Skip” Mooney, Sr. has been practicing law in Jonesboro, Arkansas, for over 50 years with a primary focus in the areas of real estate, commercial/banking, family law and probate law.

Skip Sr. earned his Degree of Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville and was admitted to the Arkansas Bar in 1961. In 1965 he was elected as the City Attorney for Jonesboro and served as the City’s legal representative for (6) years and as President of the Craighead County Bar Association (1967-1968). Subsequently he partnered with Joe C. Boone, deceased, to establish the Mooney & Boone law firm as one of Northeast Arkansas’ premier litigation firms. After his son, Skip Jr., started practice the firm decided to expand and moved from Washington Ave to their present location on Main Street under the name of the Mooney Law Firm, P.A. Over the years the firm has produced some of Jonesboro’s most accomplished attorneys, such as Christopher R. Thyer, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas.

Skip Sr. was the first in his family to obtain a college degree and the first to join the legal profession. During his legal career, Skip Sr. has represented thousands of families and business as well as mentored many attorneys in Northeast Arkansas. The help he received from others in establishing his legal career was a great lesson for him that he has never forgotten and he has paid it forward any times over in reaching out to help others. One of his major legal accomplishments during private practice was that he represented Jonesboro in its massive annexation several years ago that led to the community’s substantial growth in Northeast Arkansas. However, his proudest accomplishment as an attorney is to see his law firm become a third generation firm with the recent addition of his granddaughter, Jordan, as the firm’s new associate attorney. He also has another granddaughter, Sara Baber, who followed his legal footsteps and she is practicing in Northwest Arkansas where her family lives.

Skip Sr. is a member of the Arkansas Bar Association and an Arkansas Bar Foundation Sustaining Fellow. He is also a member of the Craighead County Bar Assoc. He  practices in all courts in Arkansas and before the Arkansas Federal District Courts.
